Total Retail Sale of Consumer Goods of Our Country Over RMB 5 Trillion Yuan. It Is Predicted to Reach 5.2 Trillion Yuan Throughout This Year.
According to statistical analysis of Ministry of Commerce, total retail sale of consumer goods of our country is over 5 trillion Yuan (RMB, same below) by early Dec., a record high. Assistant minister of Ministry of Commerce HuangHai said today that since the government implemented policies of reform and opening-up to the outside world, total retail sale of consumer goods increased fast. Compared with 1978, total value of retail sales of the consumer goods increased by 28 times in 2003. HuangHai said the several characteristics appeared in the consumer goods market this year.
First, even increase in month consumption. Second, the market in urban and rural areas grows simultaneously. Third, catering market increases fast. Fourth, hot spots in circulation increase steadily. Fifth, price rise polls up sale growth.
HuangHai also said, according to development of the commodity market at present, total retail sale of consumer goods of our country is predicted to reach 5.2 trillion Yuan throughout this year, up by over 13% compared with last year. Deducting the factor of price inflation, total value of retail sales increased by 9.8% actually, 0.6% higher than that of last year.
When mentioning the reason why the consumer goods market of our country is developing fast continuously this year, HuangHai said, first, the Central Party Committee, the State Council adhered to the idea of people being the most important, confirmed the strategic goal to build well- to-do society in an all-round way, took people's basic interest as starting point and standpoint of economic work. This created good environment for rapid development of consumer goods market. Second, the macro controls this year, put efforts on adjusting the relation between the investment and consumption, regard increasing consumption of resident as the impetus of expanding domestic demand. Third, after Ministry of Commerce establishment, at the request of the State Council, constantly pay attention to and strengthen the work of domestic trade, set up the organization rationally , substantiate the strength of leading, increase the business backbone.
HuangHai said, the Central Economic Working Conference held not long ago, proposed to increase income of urban and rural residents, improve the purchasing power, perfect the consumption policy, improve the consumption environment, foster and expand the consumption focus and actively promote consumption increase. It is estimated that total retail sale of consumer goods will keep fast growth next year, would increase by over 10% compared with this year.
